You Already Know

Two a.m, you're scrolling one more feed Hunting something you can trust You bought the books, you tried the ten-day cleanse Every fix collecting dust But He has shown you, O mortal, what is good So what does the Lord require of you? You already know, you already know He made it plain a long, long time ago Do what's fair, love mercy to the bone And walk with God like walking someone home You already know It's the truth you tell when a lie would pay The full wage in an open hand It's speaking up when someone's getting played Keeping every promise where you stand That's what justice looks like on a Tuesday It's what the Lord requires of you Mercy is the grudge you finally drop The debt you tear in two and grin A second chance for someone at their worst The door still open, come on in That's loving mercy more than being right It's what the Lord requires of you You already know, you already know He made it plain a long, long time ago Do what's fair, love mercy to the bone And walk with God like walking someone home You already know Take yourself a little lighter Take God serious instead Put down the crown, quit auditioning Trust the thing He's always said Take yourself a little lighter Take God serious instead Humble is a walk and not a stage Letting someone else go first Just you and God on the long way home Talking easy, unrehearsed That's walking humbly with your God It's all the Lord requires of you You already know, you already know He made it plain a long, long time ago Do what's fair, love mercy to the bone And walk with God like walking someone home You already know You already know Walk on, walk on home You already know
