Shadow IT

GamesOver - 2 songs

Every now and then a song shows up from an unexpected place. This one started as a LinkedIn article by Keith Schoolcraft, Owner & CEO of A Couple of Gurus, on the quiet risk lurking in most businesses: "shadow IT" - the apps, drives, and subscriptions employees adopt without IT ever knowing. What grabbed me wasn't the warning, it was the twist: the people creating the risk aren't villains, they're just trying to get their work done. Shadow IT isn't the enemy. It's a symptom. So I did what I do - turned it into a song about things hiding in the dark, and what happens when you bring them into the light.

  1. Shadow IT 4:10

    synthpop

A neon-noir descent into the after-hours office. Brooding synths, a pulse in the dark, and a long shadow with no one casting it. The original cut leans into the menace - something unseen is already inside the building - before turning, in the end, toward the light.

  2. The rescue, with a wink and a groove. Slap bass, claps, and a danceable hook that keeps the message light without losing the point: don't blame the team, bring the shadows into the light - and call in a couple of gurus when you need a hand.
